BOXING.
PURDY—'TROWERN CONTEST. The New Zealand Boxing Council has agreed that the contest between C. Purdy and R. Trowern that lias been arranged by the Mai:- watu Association to take place on December 27 shall be for the light-weight championship of New Zealand, provided that both men make the light-weight limit of 9st. Itis stated that Purdy can make this weight without any trouble, hut that Trowern may have some difficulty in getting down to it. The light-weight title will become vacant on December 22 as the holder, Les. Murray, will have then been absent from the Dominion for six months. The decision of the New Zealand Council in connection with the Purdv-Tro-wern bout is in response to an application by the Manawatu Association.
