REV. H. G. BLACKBURNE.
HAPPY IN ENGLISH CHARGE. MUCH IMPROVED IN HEALTH. 6 While jn England during the course of a ten months’ tour abroad-, and from which he returned this week, Mr G. H. Bennett met the Rev. H. G. Blackburne, formerly vicar of All Saints’, Palmerston North. Mr Blackburne’s charge is a small pastorate in the rural district of Canterbury (Kent) and Mr Bennett accepted an invitation to spend a night at his residence in the country centre of Tilmanston. Mr Bennett stated to a “Standard” reporter that he had spent a delightful time there, finding Mr Blackburne looking extremely well and much improved in health, while ho was beloved by his parishioners in no less a degree than he was in Palmerston North. Although Mr Black - burne’s sphere of labour in this beautiful little English rural centre was totally different from what he was aocustomed to in Palmerston North, he was most happy there. The church of which he had charge is a charming old edifice of Norman architecture with the narrow little Norman windows so characteristic of churches of its era.
Mr Blackburne, Mr Bennett added, made ma ny inquiries about Palmerston North friends.
