SPRING SHOW

EXHIBITION AT RONGOTEA. FINE DISPLAY"OF BLOOMS. [Special to “Standard.] RONGOTEA, Dec. 9. There was a fine display of blooms at the annual spring show in connection with the Rongotea Society held in the Coronation - Hall yesterday, and the exhibits were greatly admired by those who attended the exhibition..

Mr L. H. Yarrall, the president of the society, in his opening remarks stated that the quality of the exhibits was very commendable and referred to the progress and advancement made during the last few years. He then called upon Rev. Mr Peryman, of Foxton, to present the various trophies to their new owners, the winners be*ing as follow: Challenge cup for roses, Mr D. S. Moore; cake dish for sweet peas, Mrs Ransom; dark sweet peas, Mrs Webley; light sweet peas, -Miss Whittaker; dark roses, D. S. Moore; light roses, J. F. Wood. This Mr Peryman did and he then congratulated the society on the beautiful roses " and the display in general. Ho stated that the absence of exhibits from tire Foxton horticultural enthusiasts was due to the death of a well-known identity in tho person of Mr Signal!. He then declared the show officially opened Tho stall-holders were Mrs Rose and Miss Hansen and credit is due to themfor their capable management of same. In the evening there was a good attendance at the concert. The chairman, Mr L. H. Yarrall, in making the announcements asked if intending exhibitors at future shows would kindly try to bring their entries in tho night before tho show and thus help the secretary and stewards considerably and save confusion on tho day of the show. Mr Yarrall then thanked Mrs L.
