PALACE SERIOUSLY DAMAGED.
FIRE REPORTED. ROYAL FAMILY ESCAPE. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, Dec. 8. It is reported from Bucharest that the Palace has been seriously damaged = by fire. The Royal family escaped.—A. and N.Z. cable. ORIGIN IN KITCHENS. CENTRE OF PALACE GUTTED. Received December 9. 11.6 a.m. BUCHAREST, Dec. 8. A fire originating in the kitchens of the Royal Palace at midnight destroyed the centre of the building, including the throne and reception rooms. The side wing' and furniture were saved.—A. and N.Z. cable.
PRINCE CAROL'S INTENTIONS.
GOVERNMENT BY FASCIST METHODS. Received December 9, 9.35 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 8. The Daily News’s Vienna correspondent says that it is believed Prince Carol is ready to return to Roumania, aiming to govern by Fascist methods which is interpreted to mean with the assistance of the army, which would not be popular with the public.—A. and N.Z. cable.
