DANGEROUS EXPERIMENT.
MAN BURNT BY EXPLOSION. Per Press Association. WHANGAREI, Dec. 9. Alfred Beat, storekeeper, of Hikurangi, spilled vinegar ..on a cask of carbide in order to ascertain if the vinegar penetrated the cask. He approached with a lighted candle and a violent explosion threw him six feet and burned his face and head. His eyesight was not injured. Beat was taken to hospital. j/
