MINE EXPLOSION
SECOND EDITION
SEVENTY MEN IN SHAFT. TWENTY DEATHS POSSIBLE. Received December 10, 9.45 a.m. WASHINGTON, Dec. 9. An explosion occurred in a coal mine in East Princetown, Indiana, this morning. Rescuers predict the possibility of the fatalities exceeding 20. The dead are being disregarded until the wounded are removed. Only half of the 70 in the shaft at the time of the explosion had been brought to the surface by noon. Seven are known to have been killed.—A. and N.Z. cable.
