PROPOSED AERODROME.

BOROUGH COUNCIL’S DECISION

The Palmerston North Borough Council informed tho Chamber of Commerce, yesterday, that it had received the chamber’s letter urging the necessity and importance of the council taking immediate steps to secure a municipal aerodrome for the town. Tho matter had been carefully considered by the council, but it was sincerely regretted that, as there vcio no borough reserves available for such a purpose, it was not possible to taae any steps in the matter at tho present time. Mr M. H. Oram stated that tho Aviation Encouragement Bill, gave municipal bodies power to equip and to contribute to aviation clubs. Also, they had power to co-operate with other bodies in forming aerodromes. However, just how far the chamber could get the surrounding local bodies to co-operate remained to be seen. The letter was received without further discussion.
