GENERAL IMPROVEMENT. . (British Official Wireless.) Received September 12, 11.0 a.m. RUGBY, Sept. 11. A general improvement in tlie situation in Palestine is maintained, and unless some change of importance occurs the issue ot official reports will be discontinued. His Majesty's aircraft carrier Courageous and the destroyer Vateran, two of the vessels despatched from Malta to Palestine at the outset of the disorders, are shortly returning to their base. RECRUITS FOR POLICE SERVICE. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Sept. 10. The young men—one hundred of them—who have been recruited in London for police service in Palestine leave to-morrow morning to take up their duties. They are going out to augment the existing police force. Tho bulk of the men are under 25 years of age, and 75 per cent, of them have recently left the forces. The great majority have served in the Brigade of Guards. NEW ZEALANDER’S SAFETY. Mr A. Hamilton, M.P., has received an assurance from tho Prime Minister, Sir Joseph Ward, that in any case where personal inquiries as to the safety of New Zealanders in Palestine have failed to elicit a reply, tho Government will on request be pleased to take up the matter officially.
