TO MEET CHILDREN.

REPRESENTATIVES OF MANY CHURCHES. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 11. A few dayo before the Rotorua arrived the Salvation Army Immigration Department received a request from the Cambridge (Waikato) branch, on behalf of a man named, Mr Mclntyre, to meet four young children and look after them till he arrived. He had not enough money for the fare, but was tramping through. A Salvation Army officer accordingly met the steamer. Ho was astonished to find representatives of the Methodist, Baptist, Congregational, Presbyterian and Anglican Churches all on the same mission in response to similar requests, also that no children of the name were aboard. Major Middlemiss, the Army Officer concerned, says that he believes the request to be bona fide and that the children missed the steamer. He had heard that Mr Mclntyre had taken in and was in the Hamilton Hospital.
