THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST. The cyclone is now centred northeast of Sydney, and an intense anticyclone is moving across the South Tasman Sea and on to the Dominion. Winds south-west to southerly south of Westport and Kaikoura; south to east, thence northwards; moderate to strong generally. Seas rough south of East Cape and about Cook Strait; moderate elsewhere. Strong south to south-east winds and rough seas in the Eastern Tasman Sea. Weather mainly fair to fine in western districts, especially in the South Island; changeable in eastern districts and North Auckland, with scattered showers. Cold temperatures, with some hard frosts inland.
DISTRICT REPORT. MILDER vVEATHER. The Government meteorologist wired to-day: The indications are for moderate northerly winds and freshening. There is a prospect of fair to cloudy and milder weather. The barometer is falling slowly. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon. —lft. 6in. / V-
