BRITISH TRADE.
AUGUST RETURNS. (Australian Press Association.—United Service.) LONDON, Sept. 13. The British trade returns, for August, 1929, compared with August, 1928, show that imports increased £3,268,000; exports, £828,000; and reexports, £264,000. The principal increases in imports were: Dutiable food and drink, £618,000; wood and timber, £641,000; rubber, £1,238,000; oils and fats, £952,000. In the chief •increases were: Coal, £647,000; vehicles, £1,301,000, The principal decrease in imports was: Cotton, £1,587,000. The chief decreases in exports were: Cotton vnrns and manufactures, £1,009,000; woollen yarns and manufactures, £600,000.
