SUMMER TIME.
ADVANCE OF HALF AN HOUR. SECOND SUNDAY IN OCTOBER. (By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 14. - Although the Summer Time Bill, introduced by Mr Sidey in the Legislative Council, has not been called on in the Lower House, this measure is assured of a safe passage. Sir Joseph Ward stated in an interview to-day that the Summer Time Bill would be passed before Sunday, October 13, when it will come into operation. The Government will facilitate the bill’s passage. When this measure is enacted the clocks will be advanced half an hour, at 2 a.m. on the second Sunday in October, and at 2 a.m. on the third Sunday in March the hands will be put back 30 minutes. The measure is so framed that summer time may be a permanent feature in New Zealand.
