HIGH COMMISSIONER

SUCCESSOR NOT KNOWN. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Sept. 1-3. Mr H. E. Holland (Leader of the Labour Party) asked in. the House of Hfepresentatives to-d-ay if the Minister could say on behalf of the Government wlio would be the next High Commissioner and when he would be appointed. Mr W. J. liroadfoot said he would like to know how many New Zealanders were employed in 'the High Commissioner’s Office in London. He said it was essential that most of the members of the staff should have information about New Zealand at their finger tips. Mr Broadfoot further suggested that New Zealand publicity films, especially if made on the “talkie” principle, would find a valuable market overseas and might easily become self-supporting. Hon. P. A. de la Perrelle said that he was not in a position at the present time to make a statement in regard to the appointment of a new High Commissioner. Sir James Parr’s time had been extended and he could not say whether there would be a further extension. Replying to the other points raised, he stated that there were 23 New Zealanders out of a staff of 90 in the High Commissioner’s Office. A scheme was under consideration for exhibiting New Zealand films in our schools.
