GENERAL FORECAST. The cyclone is now moving east-south-eastward and has passed Cape Maria. A depression of the westerly type is crossing the South Island and a secondary is following it. M inds between east, and south from New Plymouth and Napier northwards, moderate to strong generally, and in North Auckland and about East Cape, leaching gale force at times; elsewhere north-west to west and later southwest winds of moderate to strong force. Seas rough’-' north of East Capo and about Cook and Foveaux Straits: moderato elswhere in New Zealand waters. ". Strong south-easterly winds and rough seas in the northern portion of the Eastern Tasman; elsewhere moderato to strong west to south-west and moderate seas. Weather unsettled north of Kawhia and Napier with scattered rain. Elsewhere mflinlv fair, but with scattered showers in western districts and parts of Otago and Southland. Temperatures mild, but becoming colder. DISTRICT REPORT. FAIR TO CLOUDY. The Government meteorologist wired to-day: The indications are for moderate to strong westerly winds and backing by west to south, after about 16 hours. There is a prospect of fair to cloudy weather, with isolated showers. Conditions will probably become colder. The barometer has little movement, but will bo rising shortly. DISTRICT REPORT.
