MISSING MONEY.
£BSO RECOVERED. FOUND IN A GARDEN. (Special to “Standard.”) FEILDING, Sept. 14. After having been missing for the last two or three months, the sum of £BSO reported as lost to the police by a lady residing in Denbigh Street, Feilding, has been recovered intact under the most peculiar circumstances. It will be recalled that the lady in question chew the money from the bank for the purpose of paying for a property that had been purchased, but at the last minute the money went astray and two or throe days later was reported to the police as having been stolen from a drawer in the lady’s bedroom. Inquiries were made by tlie police, but. however, nothing more was heard of the affair untU yesterday, when the Feilding police received notification that the £BSO had been recovered. They were informed that the lady who lost the money had received an anonymous letter telling her to dig in her garden at a certain spot and her efforts would be rewarded—and they were, to the extent of £BSO.
