Interest of racing enthusiasts in the Dominion was centred on Saturday on the final day of the Wanganui Jockey Club’s meeting. The Eclipse Stakes, as anticipated, was won by Laughing Prince —for the third year in succession—while Kick-oif prevailed in the Higgie Handicap. Although Limerick did not start in the Chelmsford Stakes af the Tattersall’s Club races at Rand wick, New Zealand horses had a most successful day, Ceremony, the winner of the Tramway Handicap, equalling the Randwick record.

HICGIE HANDICAP TO KICK-OFF.
Per Press Association. WANGANUI, Sept. 14. The Wanganui Jockey Club’s spring meeting was continued to-day in fine weather. Thcro was a good attendance. The totalisator handled £26,744 compared with £25,493 ion the second day last year. The total for the meeting was £46,799 as against £49,263 at last year’s meeting. An inquiry was held into the running of the Spring Hack Handicap, in which Pari and Cuticle met with serious interference. As a result K. Grylls, rider of Valpre, was suspended for a fortnight. Fourteen started in the Debutante Statkes, Isa being favourite. Simba jumped off in front and led all the way, but had to do his best to hold off a challenge from Isa. The filly finished fast to be beaten by half a neck. Seven started in the Gonville Hurdles, Prince Lu being sorted out as a hot favourite, with Ah Wera next in demand. Prince Lu led for half a mile, but Airtight then took charge, Prince Lu dropping back and being pulled up. Ah Wera was first into the straight, but Glengarifl finished fast and won by half a length. Hopwood found most support in the Spring Hack in which Norval Tea was the early leader with Black Maire close up. The latter led into the straight and held off a challenge from Knightlike to win by a head. There were only four starters in the Eclipse Stakes, Laughing Prince being a hot favourite. Admiral Drake and Rpyal Game were the leaders to the straight where Laughing Prince ran to the front and won easily by a length. Some Acre was made favourite for the Trial Handicap, Hunting Cry being next in demand. Some Acre and Glcnison led in turn to the straight where Hunting Cry cut the leaders down and went away to win very easily from Air Laddie. Otairi’ found most support in the Higgle Handicap but Kick-off also was well backed. Flying Shot made the early running from Otairi and Piuthair. As they crossed the top Otairi was in front and he led into the straight from Piuthair with Kickoff handy. The last named finished well and beat" Piuthair by a head with Otairi half a length away third. Singer was made favourito for the Moutoa Hack. Ngawhine and Singer were oarly leaders. Singer Jed into the straight from Goodwill and Black Maire, with Shrewd next. Shrewd finished well to win by a short head. 'in the concluding event, Consent was the favourite. Llanore made the running to the straight where Consent closed up and beat Havering by a head with Llanore thro lengths away. ’ ICeddar was fourth. RACING IN DETAIL. At Moonco Valley yesterday the Boomerang Hurdle Race was won by Leontes, whoso time for tho two miles was 3.3615. This is a world’s record, and beats Red Fuchsia’s time in New Zealand a few weeks ago. Red Fuchsia’s record was made on the final day of tho C.J.C. Grand National meeting recently, when ho co\ered tho distance in 3.37 4-5. ENGLISH RACING. DONCASTER CUP. (Australian Press Association —United Service). LONDON, Sept. 13. CHRISTCHURCH TROTTING MEETING AID OF EARTHQUAKE FUND. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 14. The Earthquake Relief trotting meeting was held at Addington to-day in fine weather. The course was in good order and thcro was a large attendance. The totalisator investments amounted to £30.698 10s. In the Earthquake Handicap Wall and Nelson Prince broke up at the start. Tot Logan headed Mount Royal m the straight and was four lengths ahead at the post. Oval was fourth with Bonetta and King s Voyage next. Kyono was beaten three furlongs from home in the Karamea Handicap where Aleron and Sonoma Laddie went to the front. This pair led into tho straight and in the run homo Aleron drew out and won by three lengths from Sonoma Laddie wlio beat El Dirck by a length. Cushla d’Oro was fourth. In the Murchison Handicap, going along the back Jean McElwyn made a forward move and was in second place two furlongs from home. Zenith led into tho straight but Daphne d’Oro put in a strong run and got up to beat him by half a length. Travis Axworthy, who finished fast, was third, a length way, with Glenelg fourth. Racing in the Seddonville Handicap Apex joined the leading pair going along the back, and three furlongs from home shot to tho front. Ho was well clear on entering the straight and won easily by two lengths from Glenrowan who beat Kreisler by half a length. Tho Westport Handicap saw Nelson Boy lead New Metford and Dipnoi to the straight and in a scrambling finish Dipnoi won by three lengths from Nelson Boy who beat New Metford by two lengths. Bingen Starr was a moderate fourth. The chances of several horses in the Westport Handicap were spoiled by the interference of a loose horse, New Metford, tho first favourite, suffering the most. In the llcefton Handicap Great Triumph led Cora Tacks, Curfew Boy and Proud Dillon to the straight. Proud Dillon then ran into second place, but Great Triumph beat him easily by two lengths. Kreisler was third with Muriel o’Oro, Cora Tacks and Curfew Boy next. Racing in the Glenhopc Handicap, Free Advice joined Orphan in the lead and they were followed round the homo turn by 'Vesuvius, while St. Maura was putting in a strong run. Vesuvius took charge fifty yards from the post and won by two lengths ' from St. Maura who was two lengths ahead of Granite City. EVENTS IN DETAIL.
