SOAIE DELIGHTFUL FLOWERS

Fragrantly scented spring blooms, delicate in colour and liodmng gracefully, created a delightful effect at the bulb show conducted in''the Empn Hall, on Saturday, by the I almerston North Horticultural Society. The entries for the numerous classes were very good and flowers for competition were forwarded from as far afield as Rongotea, Halcombe and Fending. Artistically arranged, the display o blooms was beautiful and greatly admired by visitors to the show during the afternoon. There were some veiy fine specimens on view. Tho judges were as follow Bulbs: Mr C. E. Buckingham (Lower Hutt); other flowers, Mr A. Gibson (Marton)., decorative, Mrs V. Smith (Feilding), domestic class, Mrs A. B. Wilton , vegetables, Mr T. Webb (Palmerston North). The secretary of the society is Mr l*. Galland. The stewards were Alesdames R. A. McKenzie, Robinson, Phillips, Bayliss, Wimsett and Ireland, Misses Wood, J. Chapman and Dawick, Messrs Balsillie, L. R. Bryant, Dawick and Shailer. The afternoon tea arrangements were in the hands of Mesdanies Just and A. J. Shailer, with assistants. The show was declared officially open by the Mayor (Mr A. J. Graham). Details of the awards are as follow: OPEN CLASS.
