THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST.
An anti-cyclone extends from Eastern Australia across the Tasman Sea to Northern New Zealand, while a series of slight low-pressure waves continue to move over the Southern Tasman Sea and Southern New Zealand. South-westerly winds north of Cape Egmont and Napier; elsewhere westerly and later south-westerly; moderate generally, but strong at times in Cook and Foveaux Straits. Seas rather rough, about Foveaux Strait, but otherwise smooth to moderate in New Zealand waters. Moderate south-westerly winds and smooth to moderate seas in tho Eastern Tasman Sea. Weather still mainly fair, but some scattered showers on the West Coast of tho South Island and in the extreme south. Cool night, but mild day temperatures.
DISTRICT REPORT. COLD AND CHANGEABLE. The Government meteorologist wired to-day: The indications are for southerly winds, moderate to strong, arid freshening to gale at times. the weather will probably he cold and changeable, and showery. The borometer js rising. MANAWATU RIVER GAUGE. Noon —2ft.
