COAL INDUSTRY.

BRITAIN’S PROBLEAIS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, Sept. 14. The AlLners’ Federation executive yesterday decided to make a further strong appeal to the owners’ organisation, the Alining Association, for a joint meeting to discuss the problems of the industry and the question of a national agreement. The first request was refused, and should the owners again refuse it is stated that the Government may call the two sides together in anticipation of legislation which is shortly to be introduced for the mining industry. The Central Alarketing Committee of coal owners yesterday accepted in principle a plan for the co-ordination of district marketing schemes, which aim at regulating output and controlling prices. It has now been referred to the districts, and a further meeting of the central committee will bo held in a fortnight.
