TERRIFIC FIRE
HULL’S NEW OIL PORT.
IMMENSE .WALL OF FLAME. BLAZING PARAFFIN. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (Australian Press Association). Received September 18, 10 a.m. LUiNDOJN, Sept. 17. Hull’s new oil port, Heuon, where all big storages are concentrated, was the scene of a terrific fire to-day. The fire followed ail explosion in the Anglo-American Oil Company's half a minion gallon tank of paraffin. An immense wail of lian.o shot up hundreds of feet, enveloping a wide area in a pall of black smoke. All tho available chemicals in Hull were collected in an effort to fight the flames. Brigades were summoned from a distance of 50 mies. The burning tank is one of a cluster of 18, on which water has been successfully played in order to prevent their ignition. It is estimated that the tank will take 48 hours to burn out.
