OPTIONAL CLAUSE.

EMPIRE UNITY SOUGHT.

FREE STATE’S ACTION,

(Australian Press Association.) GENEVA, Sept. 16. The outlook for the attempt to find a uniform form of acceptance of the Optional Clause on behalf of the whole British Empire has changed during tho week-end by the act of the Free State in signing unconditionally subject to ratification by the Dail Eireann. It is understood that South Africa views the matter in a similar way. Despite the Free State’s action representatives are continuing their consultations, not very hopefully, aiming at a common form of acceptance.
