THREE OFFENCES,

Per 'Press Association. WELLINGTON. Sept. 17. Between 10 and 11.30 yesterday morning, a labourer, William Logan, visited a boardinghouse and assaulted a cook with whom he had been keeping company. He then went away, but returned to the house in the evening, when he destroyed some of the cook’s property and broke a window before being finally handed over to the police. He was charged to-day with assault, theft of £7 10s and mischief and was convicted. Accused was fined £5 on the charges of mischief and ordered to make good the damage. On the charge of assault, he was convicted and discharged, and on the charge of theft was ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within 12 months.
