DAIRY FARMERS.

MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. Tiie monthly meeting of the executive of the Dairy Farmers’ Union was held yesterday, Mr Neil Campbell presiding. Others present were Messrs. Small, Boyce, Wagstaff, Mason, Dawson, Dewar, Poupard, Balmer, senr., Balmer, junr., Richardson and Short. Mr L. B. Wall forwarded his resignation and it was accepted with regret, the chairman stating that Mr Wall had disposed of his herd. The chairman reported that it was understood a duty of 6d per lb. on pork and bacon had been proposed by Australia, but it was likely that the matter might be satisfactorily adjusted by the admission of secondary grains duty free to this Dominion. The question of daylight saving was brought up by Mr Richardson, who urged that a further protest should be made. Mr Small disagreed, stating that last summer was made thoroughly enjoyable. Mr Boyce called it a scandal, and said that some of the townspeople should milk cows. Mr Poupard stated _ that it was too much for young children to walk home in the heat of the afternoon. The chairman stated that the farmers should maintain their attitude, because the half-hour might be followed by an hour’s daylight saving. The executive decided to make a further protest against daylight saving.
