RESTORATION OF PICTURE.
ARTIST’S REMUNERATION. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Sept. 19. In the claim concerning the restoration of the old masterpiece, “Feast of Belshazzar,” Mr Justice Adams gave judgment for £25 and costs to William Sydney Smith against William Henry Hitches, a shop manager. The amount claimed ivas £157. The Court held that, the remuneration to which the artist was entitled was in the absence of any agreement, the sa.oe whether tlio owner succeeded in finding a buyer or whether he failed to sell.
