PALESTINE UPHEAVAL
SOME SEMBLANCE OF ORDER. FEELING OF INSECURITY. BITTER RACIAL FEELING. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright). (United Service.) LONDON, Sept. 20. The Daily Mail’s special corespondent at Jerusalem states:— “Though the authorities have succeeded in restoring some semblance of order in Jerusalem, the fact that precautions are stili deemed necessary suggests that confidence hangs on a slender hair. The curfew has been extended to 9 p.m., but a new order states that it is still illegal, for anybody to cary a weapon, even a stick. This has resulted in even walking sticks disappearing. The police have the widest powers of arrest without a warrant. “Public assemblies are still prohibited. The authorities are convinced that Bolsheviks played a big part in the disturbances and several Communists were arrested in a raid at Haifa last night. “Bitter'Jewish and Arab feeling still prevails.”
