RANGITIKEI GOLF CLUB. (From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Sept. 21. During tho week-end a team comprising 12 men and five ladies, representing Taihape, will play at Bulls. The following men will represent the Rangitikei Club: J. S. Tricker, Signal, Cooper Hendry, A. K. Drew, Bertram, Daniell, Mansell, Prichard, Mackay, Mitchell and Da.l- - The team will be altered slightly for tho afternoon’s play. Morning play will commence at 9.45 a.m. Very few of the ladies had got under way in the L.G.U. modal round on Wednesday afternoon when a thunderstorm stopped play, and only two cards wero handed in. These read: Mrs' Goodall, 97-21-76; Miss Wilson, 107-23-84. Tho results of the second round of the ladies’ championship are as follow: Mrs Law dofeated Miss Walker, 7 up and 6 to play; Mrs Bailey won by default from Mrs Duncum; Mrs Ralfo defeated Miss O. Lovett, 2up and 1 to play; Mrs McDonell defeated Mrs Carter, 4 up and 3 to play. The second round of the handicap championships resulted : —Miss McKenzie defeated Miss Goodall, 1 up; Mrs Marumaru defeated Miss Tricker, 2 up anc * r> to play; Miss Brookie defeated Mrs R. McKelvie, 4 up and 2 to play; Miss M. McKelvio defeated Mrs Prichard, 3 up and 2to play. . , . Tho third round of both championships must be completed by Wednesday, September 25. SCHOOL COMMITTEE. The Bulls School Committee .met on Thursday evoning, Mr J; Campion presiding over a good attendance of members, as well as about twenty parents and Mr W. Olson (head master) and tho full school teaching staff. School Ball.—Mr Campion expressed his pleasure at the good attendance of parents and teachers, and the enthusiasm shown in connection with the annual school ball. After a discussion it was decided to hold the function on October 25, the children in plain and fancy dress occupying the floor from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., and the adults afterwards. An orchestra was engaged, and the ladies were asked to form committees to canvass for supper, and to decorate the hall. Mr C. H. Thorby suggested that fancy dresses of paper should be discountenanced on account of the danger of fire. School Concert.—Mr Olson and tho staff suggested holding a school concert in December, before the school “breakingup,” the proceeds being used to provide the children. with playing material. The proposal was approved, and arrangements left in the teachers’ hands. 1.0.0. F. LODGE MEETING. The regular fortnightly meeting of Lodge Rangitikei No. 14, 1.0.0. F., was held on Thursday evening, N.G. Bro. Forbes presiding over a very good attendance of members. Correspondence was received from tho D.D.G.M., enclosing amended itinerary for October installations and from Bro. Waters, notifying that he is on the sick list. . Tho second nomination of ofheers resulted as follows: —N.G., nil; V.G., Bro. C. N. Hill; Rec. Secretary, Bro. D. CapThe election of officers resulted as follows: N G., Bro. E. Petersen; V.G., Bro. C. N. Hill; Rec. Secretary, Bro. Robt. Kemp (on the casting vote of the N.G.); Perm. Sec., Bro. K. Dwyer; Treasurer, Bro. L. Hill. Bros. J. J. Mansell and E. Wilcock acted as scrutineers. It was resolved to apply to the D.D.G.M. for permission to hold a semi-publio installation. The N.G. and the secretary are to confer with the committee of Roseneath Rebekah Lodge regarding arranging for supper on the evening of October 3, installation night.
