WOODVILLE

ATHLETIC CLUB. (From Our Own Correspondent.) WOODVILLE, Sept. 20. A meeting of those interested in the reforming of tho Amateur Athletic Club was hold in the Borough Council Chambers last evening, Air S. Turnbull presiding over a fair attendance. Tho chairman explained the reason of the meeting and also 6poke regarding the financial position of the old club. Air W. Curry moved that the club bo re-formed, the motion being carried unanimously. Officers for tho year were elected as follow :—Patron, Dr P. H. Alules; president, Mr S. Turnbull; vice-presidents, Alcssrs R. Bly, R. 11. Henderson, W. Galbraith, U. G. Smith, W. Curry and E. R. Perkins; committee, Alessrs P. Burlace, F. Spackman, F. Do Alalmanohe, A. Harris, A. Ross and H. AlcNeil; secretary, Air R. Vile.

The appointment of a handicapper and a delcgato to the Alanawatu Centre were left ovor until tho next meeting. It was decided to apply to the Alanawatu Amateur Athletic sub-centre tor affiliation. Tho rules of the club were discussed and arrangements were made for them to be amended beforo being forwarded to the sub-centre.

A recommendation that an evening meeting be held on October 19th was made to tho committee. » KUAIEROA SPORTS CLUB. The annual general meeting of tho Kumeroa Hopolands Athletic Club was field in the Kumeroa Hall, tho president, Air G. B. De Ath, presiding over about forty members. The report for the past year was as follows:—“Your committee desire to thank the members for their support which again l-esulted in a successful sports meeting and a creditable balance-sheet. Although the entries wero not so numerous as in previous years, an attractive programme was got through without a hitch, all events being keenly contested. We arc again indebted to Air Alelhuish and Air G. Lovell who again placed their grounds at tho club’s disposal and also for giving very valuable assistance in the preparation of the running track. Thanks are also duo to Mr A. East, our secretary, and the happy position of tho club to-day is in no small way duo to his untiring efforts and efficient management. The membership has increased considerably and now stands at 83.” Tho balance-sheet disclosed a very healthy state of affairs, the club’s credit standing at £BS 15s 3d. Tho _ election of officci’s resulted in the following being elected :—Patron, Mr A. McNicol (re-elected); president, Mr G. B. D’Ath (re-elected); vice-presidents, Alessrs J. Little, C. Alaclrio, W. Arrow, A. Rainsden and J. Mitchell; hon. treasurer. Air C. Alackie; hon. auditor, Air B. 11. Norman : hon. secretary, Air A. East; management committee, Alessrs W. Conishce, W. Hutchins, W. Arrow, J. Cheyrie, W. Aliller, G. Lovell, D. Dunforcl and W. H. Toogood; general committee, Alcssrs Scott, Hancock, Thom, A. Dunford, Colhoun, Brown, Herbert, Jones, Bryant, Alartin, Mabey, Warehnm, Smythe, Thompson and Smith. Resignations wero received from Messrs H. E. Gill and L. Hoaynes. Messrs G. W. Wardrop and W. Thom were elected as members. It was decided to hold the annual sports meeting on Easter Saturday." The meeting then concluded and all present adjourned for supper during which numerous toasts were honoured including, “The King,” _ “New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association,” “Trophy Donors,” “Kindred Clubs,” “The Visitors,” “Ladies” and “The Press.”

A pleasing little function took place at the Kumeroa Sports Club’s annual meeting when Mr A. Ramsden, president of tho Kumeroa Sheep Dog Trial Club, presented, on behalf of tho club, to their lato secretary, Air A. Dunfoi-d, a vezy handsome travelling clock and a weather glass as a small token of esteem and appreciation of his good services as secretary for the past seven years. He stated that they wero extremely sorry to lose the services of Air Dunford for the club has prospered oxeceedingly under his able administration. Mr Dunford suitably responded.
