IRAK’S CLAIMS

CHANGE IN POLITICAL SITUATION NEW CABINET FORMED. (United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—-Copyright.) (Australian Press Association —United Service.) Received September 20, 1.50 p.m. BAGDAD, Sept. 20. The political situation in Irak has greatly changed following the British Government’s offer to recommend unconditionally Irak’s entrance to the League of Nations in 3932, whereby all parties will be placated. A new Cabinet has been formed under the Premiership of Sir Abdul Sadun. A communique issued to-day announced that Sir Gilbert Clayton had impressed the Labour Cabinet with the advisability of an early decision on Irak’s demand to enter tire League as a means of terminating the existing treaties. It is regretted that the British reply was en route while Sir Gilbert Clayton was dying. It would have given him pleasure to communicato it personally to Irak. The British reply also announces a decision not to proceed with the 1927 treaty, but that it is necessary to conclude a treaty before 1932 to regulate the relations between Britain and Irak. Sir Abdul Sadun, in accepting the Premiership, stated that the Irak nation would accept nothing in the long run falling short of complete independence. The new situation is regarded as a direct result of the Labour Cabinet’s policy in the Middle East. The Irak Cabinet includes Yassin Pasha, who is closely identified with the Nationalists.
