EXTREME LABOUR.
OPERATIONS IN BRITAIN. (Australian Press Association.) Received September 20, 1.45 p.m. LONDON, Sept. 20. The British section of the League against Imperialism has expelled from membership its chairman, Mr James Maxton, M.P. —he is also chairman of the Independent Labour Party—because he allegedly neglected to fight the Labour Government’s policy in Egypt, also for his support of the Government measures to crush the Arab revolt in Palestine. Mr Maxton stated in an interview to-day that he did not intend to be bullied. Dissension in the British Communist Party is revealed by tho demand of a number of branches for the removal of Messrs. Harry Pollitt, Arthur Horner and J. R. Campbell, late of the Political Bureau, on the ground of being Right Wingers. The demand apparently originated in Moscow. Moscow is not satisfied with the Communists’ achievements in Britain and insists on a more intense war against the Socalist Government.
