WAIATA.

(From Our Own Correspondent). WAIATA, Sept. 21. On ."Wednesday evening last'.a “kitchen” tea was given at "Waiata in honour of Miss F. Billett, whose ; marriage to Mr N. Peat takes place next week. The evening was a very successful one, due in large measure to the popularity of the guests of honour, and to the splendid activities of tho organisers, Mr and Mrs Jensen and family. The rooms in which the function was held were beautifully decorated with blue and yellow streamers, ferns and spring flowers. On behalf of those present, Mr J. Brown made the presentation, extending to Miss Billett and Mr Peat good wishes for their future happiness. Mr Peat suitably replied. During the evening numerous competitions were greatly enjoyed, the first being won by Mr and Mrs Harland, and the second, a peanut race, by Miss Cranston and Mr Bismark. A spot waltz was won by Miss M. Jensen and Mr A. Billett. After a dainty supper had been partaken of a pleasant evening was closed with the singing of “For they aro jolly fellows” and “Auld Lang Syne.” The guests of honour were made the recipients of many very useful kitchen articles. PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs Bowles, who have been spending an extended holiday in England, returned to their home at Waiata on Wednesday. Miss Stallard, of Hamilton, is the guest of Mrs P. McKay.
