RELIGIOUS DISPUTE.
MALTA AND THE VATICAN. (Australian Press Association.) Received September 21, 1.50 p.m. ROME, Sept. 20. The Avenire d’ltalia, the important Catholic newspaper of Bologna, publishes an interview with Mr Dandria, Minister of Education, at Malta in the Ministry preceding Lord : Strickland’s. Mr Dandria attacks Lord Strickland’s Catholic policy. He hopes that Britain will listen to the voice of the oppressed people desiring liberation from a man whom Maltese patriots regard as an incubus and a scourge. VIEWPOINT SOMEWHAT EXAGGERATED. (Australian Press Association.) Received September 1, 1.50' p.m. LONDON, Sept. 20. The Daily Telegraph’s Rome correspondent states that although Mr Dandria’s viewpoint is representative of an important section of the Maltese political life, as well as the Vatican opinion, it 6omewhat exaggerates the present Maltese situation.
