BLAZE IN THEATRE.
CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE,
Per Press Association. BLENHEIM, Sept. 23*. A fire in the Palace Picture Theatre just previously to opening time on Saturday caused serious damage to tlio dress circle in partTcular and the building generally. Extensive repairs will necessitate the theatre being closed for some time. The building, which is owned by Mr W. Carr, is leased to Mr Thomas A. O’Brien, of Theatres, Ltd., Auckland, who also leases His Majesty’s. The operating box and plant escaped damage. The cause is unknown, but an incipient fire in the same place was discovered a fortnight ago. The insurances at present arc not available.
