COMPETITIONS FESTIVAL.
JUDGES APPOINTED
The Manawatu Competitions Society has appointed Messrs. J. C. Clitlieroe (Dunedin) and W. Russell Wood (Auckland) and Miss Iris Montgqmerfe (Christchurch) judges for its 1930 festival. All three are new to Palmerston North, but are well-known in their respective arts. Mr Russell Wood, who will adjudicate in tho elocutionary section, has acted in this capacity throughout New Zealand, notably at Christchurch, Dunedin and Greymouth. The judge of the vocal and instrumental classes, Mr J. C. Clitheroe, was recently brought from England by the Department of Education to lecture on music at the Dunedin Teachers’ Training He lias shown marked energy in the execution of his duties and has formed an excellent choir at tho college. Miss Montgomerie is well-known to lovers of the terpsichorean art and has judged dancing classes at numerous festivals.
