FLUTTER AT GENEVA.
CAUSED BY DELEGATE. Mr C. W. C. Carr, Australia’s chief delegate to the League of Nations Assembly, caused a flutter at Geneva. Australia has become prominent as a consequence of his advocacy of an extension of women’s interests in the league. Several organisations championing women, including one seeking a Treaty of Equal Rights, wanted Mr Marr to address gatherings. They dubbed Australia “Ma” and New Zealand “Pa.” Every day there were inquiries about “Pa” and'“Ma.” Mr Marr’s hurried departure to Australia for the Federal elections caused consternation among the women.
