GLOWWORM CAVES.
IMPORTANT DISCOVERY. SAID TO RIVAL WAITOMO. WANGANUI, Sept. 21. It is stated that during the course of some investigations ho was making along the hills of the upper reaches of the Wanganui River the late Mr W. Salt, president of the Ruapehu Ski Club, came across some magnificent glowworm caves, which he investigated as extensively as possible. These caves, it is said, are of very great beauty, and were it possible to provide access to them they would open up another outstanding tourist attraction. Unfortunately Mr Salt’s career was cut short by a fatal accident, but if it is found practicable to develop the caves they should be investigated further. It is stated that the caves rival those of Waitomo, but the main problem is that of access.
