IN JOCULAR SENSE.
NO BREACH OF PRIVILEGE. WELLINGTON. Sept. 26. “In the opinion of the committee the words complained ot do not constitute a breach of privilege, as they were used in a jocular sense. This was the finding of the committee on privilege reported to the House of Representatives yesterday in regard to tho recent lobby incident m which the Minister of Education (Hon. H. Atmore) said to Mr A. M. Samuel (Reform, Thames): I will tell ( them something about you in Egypt. Speaking to the report, the Leader of the Opposition (Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates) stated that the finding represented the consensus of opinion of the committee. The resolution would not have been arrived at had the members not been satisfied that the remarks were made in a jocular sense and that no deduction could be taken tiom them. The report was tabled.
