In preparation for tho entry upon activities lor the 1929-30 cricket season, tho annual meeting of the Uld Boys Cricket Club was held last evening when, despite the inclement nature of the night, Air R. A. Brace presided over a very satisfactory attendance ol members. Reviewing tho activities of the past season, the report stated inter alia: — “One senior team was entered in the competitions conducted by the Alanawatu Cricket Association which, although not very successful, proved to be a power always to bo reckoned with, gaining some meritorious wins. L. M. Pacey, who compiled two centuries and headed the batting averages for the district, was to be congratulated. Amongst the bowlers, G. Diederich gained the best average, while G. Lusk accounted for the greatest number ot wickets. The club’s strongest team was the junior eleven, all members being particularly keen in turning out to practices and competition matches, gaining a close second in the final. A large number of new menibers were enrolled during the season, giving promise for perhaps even a more successful season this year. The club wishes to thank Air W. Broughton, caretaker of tho Sportsground, for the many excellent wickets he prepared for practices. l>uring the year, the club sustained the loss of two of its most prominent members in the persons of R.
