SUPPRESSING A FIRE. Another activity was added to the aeroplane’s manifold uses when, fpr what was probably the first time in the history of aviation aeroplanes fought a battle with a disastrous oil fire and brought it under partial control in tire United States. Two hundred and fifty oil workers have been rendered homeless by the fire, in Ventura County oil area, which caused damage estimated at £400,000. The outbreak was caused by a broken high-tension wire, and thousands of yards of highways burst into flames as the result of oil seepage.
