ACCIDENT TO EXPRESS.
TWO HOURS LATE. DAMAGED BOGEY WHEELS. The Wellington-New Plymouth express, running two hours late on account of the mishap to one of the carriages. (reported on page 7) was due at this centre nt 3 p.m. to-day. The train left Shannon at 2.15 p.m. It is reported that the cause of the delay was an accident to the undergear of the express, causing the smashing of the front bogey wheels of the first carriage, which was derailed near Shannon. It is understood that the mishap was not serious, 'and no one was injured. The damaged carriage was removed to Shannon. •
Carriages and a van were added to the down Napier express as a relief train, but these were not required. Passengers by this train for New Plymouth were still waiting at Palmerston North to resume their journey on arrival of the express due at 3 p.m. '
