RUGBY FORMATION.
OLD PLAYER’S VIEW. • Per Press Association. HAMILTON, Jan. 27, r “There is nothing wrong with our formation which, has stood the test of -fortv years,” stated Mr George Gillett, of Hamilton, who was one of the best players of the.- 1904-1905 All Blacks. Mr Gillett during that tour played frequently in the role of wing-forward. “Any proposal, aiming at a change in New Zealand of the Rugby it has known for so long will meet with much opposition when it comes before the annual meeting of delegates. . There is nothing to say that you cannot play a man in this position if you have ten players in the scrum,” he said. “The one person to handle the wing-forward is the referee. A good wing-forward can open up the game as well as the best half-back. Both can take their place on the field without detriment to them or to team work as a whole.”
