WIN FOR SOUTH AFRICANS.

ADELAIDE, Jan. 26. In the match with South Afr.Ya, South Australia displayed a stubborn tail-end, Grimmett advancing from 38 to 63. He batted for 119 minutes, scoring two fours and one five. The South Africans tried five bowlers in three-quarters of an hour, Balaskas taking the last two wickets. ; South Africa required 116 to win. South Australia were hopeful when Christy was clean bowled by Wall in the first over. Taylor, however, altered the complexion of the game, by a superb chanceless innings. He showed scant respect for Grimmett. His innings lasted 88 minutes, and he hit nine fours. Cameron’s was a serviceable knock, and ho hit three fours. South' Africa won by seven wickets and one run. SHEFFIELD SHIELD MATCH.

SYDNEY, Jan. 26. In the Sheffield Shield match against New South Wales, Victoria in the second innings made 294 (Thomas 70, Ryder 13, Oakley not out 93). Bowling, Hird took two wickets for 58, Theak two for 64, Hunt two for 67. McCabe and Bradman each took a wicket.
