NINETY MILE BEACH.

' For ' the second time since Mr "Wizard” Smith came .to Ninety Mile Beach in the new . year, all activities have censed and the officials of the Auckland Automobile Racing Cslub and some • members of Mr Smith’s party have-, returned to Auckland. The decision was reached, late yesterday afternoon, and immediately Mr Butcher and the timing officials left for Auckland, the others leaving to-morrow and later in the week to return on February 3. Attempts on the five and flying mile records will be taking place between February 4 and 6. The van will be cared for by two mechanics, who are staying at the garage. Mr Smith will probably stay at \V aipapakauri and keep an eye on the. Enterprise, although no more work will be done to the car. It is only a matter of waiting for the beach now. The post office closed down last. night, but will reopen when the officials return.
