FAREWELL SOCIAL.
FUNCTION AT TAKARO. PRESENTATIONS TO REV. J. R. < NEILD. Parishioners of All Saints’' Church district gathered in largo numbers at the Takaro Hall last evening to bid farewell to Rev. J. R. Neild, who for thb past four year's has been assistant curate of the parish, and has had. charge of the Takaro district a? well as the responsibility of supervising the Sunday Sqhool work. Mr Neild completes his parish duties on January 31 and leaves bn February 9 for Eng-, land, where he will take up a curacy at Uxbridge, near Cambridge. The large assembly at the function last evening was a splendid tribute to his popularity. Rev. Canon G.* Y, Woodward eulogised the' services _ of Mr Neild to the parish-and spoke in laudable terms of his manifold activities. Mr A.. D. Barkwith, on behalf of the ( Takaro Church district, expressed similar sen-, timents, and presented Mr Neild; with a cheque. Mr J. L. Harwood adde'd his appreciation and, wishing Mr Neild success in his new sphere of work, presented him with a cheque on behalf of the All Saints’ vestry. The social programme was most enjoyable. Items were contributed by the Takaro Glee Club (Messrs Barkwith, West, Packer, Sundbom and Hall). Mr F. H. Wollerman and Miss Joan Wpllerman gave much appreciated vocal duets ("Come Sing to Me” and "In Springtime”). Miss Joyce Ramsay presented a pretty bolo dance, while Mrs W. Tabor and Mr.S. Woodward figured in a humorous number. Messrs Jeronisen and Hutchinson gave an exhibition of thought-reading, and Mr W. Tabor sang humorous songs.' Mr R. Taplin sang "The Lute Player” and “Gloria,”-while Mrs Bigham contributed two nice songs. The accompaniments were played by Mesdamos Bipliam, McNeilly and Wollerman, while Mes»dnrhes Wollerman and Messrs C. Penny and Inkpen contributed the music for the dances. The duties of, M.O. were carried out by Mr W. Hall. Competitions were won by Mrs Jameson and Mr Smith; Miss and Mr Jones; Miss R. Radcliffe and Mr Wollerman; and Miss R. Penman and Mr Wollerman. Rev. Mr Neild will preach his farewell sermon on Sunday-evening next.
