NINETY MILE BEACH.
NO NEW SPEED ATTEMPT,
> DELAY UNTIL FEBRUARY,
Per Press Association. A. KAITAIA, Jan. 27. Once again the Ninety Mile Beach' is a scene of inactivity for about ten, days, and most of the officials have left to return to Auckland.. They will come back about February 3, and; it is understood that an attempt on the flying mile and five-mile speed records will be made by Mr NormanSmith between February 4 and 6. King tides, the highest of the year, are due between February 4 and 6, and it is hoped that the beach will be right for the big at? tempt then. The beach Post Office will be closing until the officials turn.Except for the preparations for departure, there was no activity, at the garage to-day.
