GREAT RUSSIAN BASSO.
CHALIAPIN RETURNING TO MOSCOW.
Received January 29. 1.20 p.m. AMSTERDAM, Jan. 28. Chaliapin, the world renowned basso, who has been appearing in opera here, is returning to Russia. He will sing at Moscow on February 18. Chaliapin will resume his former official position as the “singer of the peqple.” . . The Soviet has withdrawn the decree of banishment imposed in 1924. He regains his beautiful home at Moscow, where he will be entitled to live free for the rest of his life.
