(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) Received January 29, 8.30 a.m. DETROIT, Jan. 28. Raising the question whether Mr Gar Wood yesterday. exceeded Mr Kaye Don’s record by a margin sufficient to entitle him to the world’s speedboat record, Mr W. D. Edenburn, chairman of the racing committee of the Yachtsmen’s Association of America, said to-day that application for official sanction of Mr Wood’s achievement would be witnheld temporarily. Later. Mr Edenburi' has announced that Mr Wood apparently failed to establish the record by a margin of .08 nautical miles an hour. The previous record, set by Miss England H, piloted by Kaye Don, was 110.28 m.p.h. Subsequently Gar Wood in his new boat, Miss America IX made an attempt on the world record, but did not exceed 102.5 m.p.h. On Wednesday at Miami Beach, Mr Wood set a mark of 110.785 miles an hour. On the second run Mr Wood made 110.49 miles an hour southward over the measured nautical mile course.
