ECONOMY COMMISSION.
PROFESSOR COPLAND’S VIEWS. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 30. The necessity for any economic commission to include trained economists as well as practical men, and the failure of the special commission appointed by Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes to meet this need, were emphasised by Professor Copland, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce at the Melbourne University; in an interview last evening. “Real costs must be reduced and this is a task which cannot be 'easily accomplished with low export prices. In New Zealand the currency problems involved are highly technical and demand the combined attention of the trained economist and the practical man. It is unfortunate that the newlyappointed Economy Commission has not been constituted in this way.”-
