An unusual accident occurred in Fitzherbert Avenue at noon to-day, when a heavily laden motor lorry, proceeding toward the Ferguson Street intersection, was brought to a standstill and very nearly overturned through a rear wheel penetrating the road surface, the spot having been recently weakened by the excavation work necessary for the new 18-inch pipe line. The lorry, piled high with merchandise, was balanced at a precarious. angle, the rojj wheel being quite 18 inches beneath tne road surface. The removal of portion of the load,- tof ether with the services of another eavy lorry and a tow rope, soon replaced the vehicle on the firm crown of the road.
