A REAL CHAMPION.
PHAR LAP PLEASES TURFMEN
Received January. 80, 10 a.m. VANCOUVER, Jan. 29. A message from Agua Caliente states that a steady stream of turfmen are inspecting Phar Lap, and all agree that ho looks a real champion. _ Phar Lap needs company, according to the trainer, Woodcock. A hole has been made in the stall so that he can see a pony stabled next to him. Mr D. J. Davis held a conference at Los Angeles with Steve Donoghue, and there is a possibility that the latter will ride Phar Lap in one race, though Elliott, the regular jockey, is due to arrive on February 12 from Australia.
Two stalls away from Phar Lap is a lowly racer named Truly Movan, who can scarcely get out of his own way on the track. f Thus almost side by by side are the thoroughbred toast of Australia and a selling plater, as the boys jsay.
