SWIMMING

THE PALMERSTON NORTH CARNIVAL. Mr H. Parsonage, of Feilding, who attended the jubilee meeting of *“6 Palmerston North Swimming Club last night and treated those present to an exhibition swim by his well-known pupil. Miss ,P. Sporle, of Feilding, has the following interesting com-; ments to make on the meeting. . “The spectators were treated to several good exhibitions of the natatorial art. The outstanding competitor so far as Palmerston North was concerned was Miss N. Hosking, who registered the same time as Miss Sporle in the 33 1-3 yards ladies’ handicap. This speaks volumes for Miss Hosking and her coach, ° especially in view of the fact that Miss Sporle has just returned from competing against the best girls in the New Zealand championships with success. Fortunately for the Manawatu Centre these two young- ladies will meet on two occasions next week, and the Feilding representative will need to be at the top of her form to shake ' the Palmerston North representative off. On form it would appear that records for the Manawatu Centre will be broken and a great duel can be looked forward to between the two young ladies and Feilding supporters will be present in force to spur their representative on.

The results of the Palmerston North carnival appear on page 4.
